Steps to create a coal load for an open-top freight wagon. It takes around 10 minutes per wagon but could be reduced if done in batches.
- Woodland scenics coal (WOODLAND-B92)
- Mod Podge matte (PVA glue is not matte and leaves shines)
- Foam Cardboard
Steps:
- Cut a piece of foam cardboard 2mm smaller than the inside of the wagon
- Cut two additional rectangular pieces smaller than the inside of the wagon. They will allow easy removal of the load and add height.
- Glue the small rectangles below the base foam cardboard
- Add PVA glue and add a first base layer of coal
- Once dry, add more coal so that it has pyramidal form
- Glue together using the same methodology used in ballasting.
