I want to create a small forest in my layout. Trees are expensive and most of they feel like plastic. I decided to attempt to create a tree by using wire and rope. The process is straightforward but hard to master.
- Cut rope to around 5 cm
- Cut metal wire to around 30cm and bend it by the middle
- Clamp the metal wire to a flat surface and spread the rope between the two ends.
- Attach one of the ends of the tree to a drill and make it spin.
- Tim to a triangle shape.
- Add paper with PVA+water to increase trunk
- Spray with black paint and add static grass and fine turf.

I have tried different variations, in order from left to right:
- Black base, fine and medium green turf, medium amount of rope density
- Brown base, fine and medium green turf, medium amount of rope density
- Brown base, fine and medium green turf, high amount of rope density
- Brown base, fine and medium green turf, low amount of rope density
- Black base, fine turf 2mm static grass, high amount of rope density
- Black base, fine turf 2mm static grass, high amount of rope density (different form)

These attempts do not include the widening of the base of the tree with paper and glue. With the widening, the result after being added to the layout is:
